King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ahmed, chaired over a religious ceremony marking Eid Al Mawlid Annabawi at the Hassan Mosque in Rabat.

This religious ceremony was marked by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and panegyrics of Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).

On this occasion, Minister of Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq made a presentation on the activities of the Supreme Council of Ulema and local Ulema Councils, before handing over to the Sovereign the report relating to these activities.

In his address, the minister said the celebration of Aid Al Mawlid Annabawi coincides with the commemoration of the 15th century anniversary of the birth of the Prophet (PBUH), noting that the Sovereign has instructed the Supreme Council of Ulema to celebrate this year by emphasizing both the Life and the Message of the Prophet.

In this regard, he affirmed that the religious guidance provided in the Kingdom, at the initiative of the Ulema, aims to enshrine lofty universal values. He added that the Ulema believe that fulfilling the conditions of Tabligh (propagation), under the enlightened leadership of the Commander of the Faithful, is an ideal opportunity to put forward a global model of understanding inspired by the way of the Prophet.

He cited in this regard the high-level meeting, held earlier this year by the Supreme Council of Ulema with a host of major development actors, to address, through their research, the question of the extent to which development needs the guidance provided by the Quran.

Afterwards, the King handed over Mohammed VI International Award of memorization, declamation and exegesis of the Holy Quran to Hassan Bakkour (Syria).

The Sovereign also awarded the Mohammed VI international prize of Quran psalmody with memorization of five Hizbs to Ayoub Alla from Salé.

The Commander of the Faithful handed over the Mohammed VI Award in Moroccan Calligraphic art and the Mohammed VI Award in Moroccan Calligraphic art (Excellence Award) to Jaouad Ettaybi and El Mostapha Ajdi from Salé.

The Sovereign gave the Mohammed VI Award of Moroccan decorative art on paper (Honorary Award) to Abdelilah Laabiss (Meknes) and the Mohammed VI Award of the Moroccan decorative art on paper (Excellence Award) to Badr Dhrif (Fez).
