Morocco-USA naval exercise sends strong message to enemies – The North Africa Post

The Royal Navy and the American Navy conducted lately joint exercises focusing on hydrographic surveys, technical diving and security operations for installations at the port of Casablanca.

The joint naval exercises, held from August 17 to 31, seek to enhance interoperability and maritime security and protect ports facilities against terrorist threats targeting global maritime trade.

The hydrographic surveys enable the navy to measure and describe features that affect maritime navigation, ensuring safe passage for vessels and supporting military operations. These surveys provide critical data for creating nautical charts, identifying underwater hazards, and facilitating disaster response efforts.

From September 15 to October 6, 2025, the Royal Navy will participate in “UNITAS 2025”, the world’s longest-running multinational maritime exercise, to be organized in the United States.

Morocco is the only Arab and African country invited to participate in this major exercise featuring approximately 8,000 personnel from 26 allied and partner nations, including multiple ships, submarines, and aircraft (fixed wing and rotary).

Morocco, a major non-NATO ally, had hosted multiple military exercises, including African Lion, the largest joint military exercise in Africa. Other US military exercises Morocco participates in include Flintlock, Phoenix Express, and Obangame Express.
