Rabat – Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart are on the verge of signing with Moroccan midfielder Bilal El Khannouss from Leicester City, according to sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The club is acting swiftly after confirmation that striker Deniz Undav faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, pushing management to strengthen their attacking options.
Tavolieri reported that El Khannouss is already en route to Stuttgart, where he is expected to undergo his medical before signing a permanent deal.
The Moroccan playmaker is set to agree to a four-year contract, with his current market value estimated at around €28 million.
El Khannouss has been linked with several Bundesliga clubs over the summer, but Stuttgart appear to have finally made the decisive move.
The sale of Nick Woltemade to Newcastle United earlier this window provided Stuttgart with a major financial boost — an influx of funds has enabled the club to make strong investments in attacking reinforcements.
Should the deal for El Khannouss be completed, Stuttgart would underline their ambitions of consolidating their status among Germany’s top clubs while also reinforcing their North African presence in the squad.
