Moroccan blueberry exports to UK hit new record – The North Africa Post

Morocco has emerged as the United Kingdom’s top supplier of blueberries, setting a new export benchmark with a record-breaking performance in the 2024/25 season, according to data from EastFruit.

Between July 2024 and June 2025, Moroccan exporters shipped 19,000 tons of blueberries to the UK, valued at $144 million, marking a 44% year-on-year increase.

The volume more than doubled compared to the 2022/23 season, establishing an all-time high for Moroccan blueberry exports to the British market.

The surge underscores Morocco’s rapid ascent in the UK’s soft fruit sector. Having led the UK’s raspberry imports since the 2022/23 season, Morocco has now achieved a similar breakthrough in the blueberry category.

While the first recorded shipments of Moroccan blueberries to the UK date back to 2009, significant growth only began post-Brexit.

In 2019/20, Morocco ranked eighth among UK suppliers. By 2021/22, it had climbed to third place, overtook Spain in 2022/23, and nearly matched Peru’s volumes in 2023/24. This season, Morocco has outpaced all competitors to claim the top spot.

The UK now ranks among Morocco’s key export destinations for blueberries, following Spain and the Netherlands.

The Moroccan export window runs from December to June, peaking in April, with Spain, the Netherlands, and Germany remaining its main competitors during this period.
