Morocco’s international Achraf Hakimi has been named among the 30 finalists for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, following a standout season with Paris Saint-Germain.

Hakimi, 26, played a pivotal role in PSG’s domestic and international success, contributing 11 goals and 16 assists across all competitions.

His performances helped the club secure four major titles: Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Champions League, and the Trophée des Champions. PSG also reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The right-back’s inclusion in the Ballon d’Or shortlist marks a rare achievement for a defender, underscoring his growing influence and technical prowess.

Football analysts have described Hakimi as a “complete player,” citing his consistency, athleticism, and leadership on the pitch.

According to rankings published by Top Mercato, Hakimi is currently placed seventh among the top contenders for the award, alongside global stars such as Mohamed Salah, Kylian Mbappé, and Lamine Yamal.

Hakimi recently extended his contract with PSG until 2029, with a significant salary increase, reflecting his elevated status within the club and European football.

Yassine Bounou, the Moroccan international goalkeeper currently playing for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, has been nominated for the Yashin Trophy, awarded to the world’s best goalkeeper. Rising star Ayoub Bouaddi was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy, which honors the best under-21 player.

these nominations are seen as a symbolic milestone for Moroccan and African football, highlighting the emergence of a new generation capable of competing at the highest level.
