UN Special Representative to Libya Hanna Serwaa Tetteh has said Morocco is a “very important partner” in building agreement and consensus among Libyan parties, commending the Kingdom for its efforts and for backing the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

The UN official made the remarks in Rabat following her Talks held Monday with Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita. She cited the electoral and political challenges Libya is facing, noting that the UN is working with Libyans to establish a new political roadmap.

She also affirmed that the UN Mission will continue to work with all Libyans, with the support of Morocco and the international community, to put an end to the current situation.

For his part, Bourita has reiterated Rabat’s firm support for the efforts engaged by the United Nations to advance inter-Libyan dialogue leading a solution to the Libyan crisis.
