King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, chaired Thursday the allegiance ceremony, which crowned the festivities marking the 26th anniversary of the Monarch’s enthronement.

The King was accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ahmed, during this ceremony, which took place at the Mechouar square of the Royal Palace in Tetouan.

Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, the Walis and Governors of the Kingdom’s wilayas, prefectures and provinces, as well as Walis and Governors of the Interior Ministry’s Central Administration renewed or pledged allegiance to the Sovereign.

Afterwards, the delegations representing the various regions, prefectures and provinces of the Kingdom renewed their allegiance to the Commander of the Faithful.

This ceremony, which reflects the authenticity of the Moroccan centuries-old traditions and translates the Moroccan people’s unwavering attachment to the Throne, ended with a five-gun salute, as the Sovereign responded with his hands to the cheers of representatives from the various regions of the Kingdom.

The allegiance ceremony is an opportunity for representatives of the Kingdom’s twelve regions to reiterate their attachment to the Sovereign and to emphasize the bond between the Throne and the People. This tradition is deeply rooted in the country’s history, and has always been the foundation of the Moroccan Nation, and the supreme expression of its solidity and durability.

The ceremony was attended by the Head of Govt., the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament, Advisors to the King, members of the government, Presidents of constitutional bodies, senior officers of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, and a number of civilian and military personalities.
