Egypt Sends Dozens of Aid Trucks into Gaza Amid Growing Humanitarian Crisis – The North Africa Post

Dozens of Egyptian aid trucks carrying essential humanitarian supplies began entering Gaza on Sunday, July 27th via the Karm Abu Salem crossing, Al-Qahera News reported.
The convoy, which originated from the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing, included food, flour, and reconstruction materials. In a parallel effort, the Egyptian Red Crescent launched a major aid initiative titled Zad Al-Ezza: From Egypt to Gaza, deploying over 100 trucks with 1,200 tonnes of food, including 840 tonnes of flour and 450 tonnes of food baskets. Due to Israeli restrictions, trucks are rerouted from Rafah to Karm Abu Salem for inspection before accessing southern Gaza.
This delivery forms part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the severe humanitarian crisis afflicting Gaza, home to 2.4 million people. In a move to facilitate aid access, Israel recently announced a limited “tactical pause” in specific areas of Gaza between 10:00am and 8:00pm daily. However, these pauses are geographically limited and have been criticised as insufficient. The Israeli military also reported an airdrop of humanitarian aid, though international observers and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) have dismissed airdrops as ineffective and potentially dangerous, warning that they do not address the escalating starvation and suffering of civilians.
Mounting international condemnation has followed revelations of Israeli military attacks at aid distribution centres and the continued blockade, which critics describe as a deliberate starvation campaign and a form of collective punishment. Over 1,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed while seeking aid, triggering accusations of war crimes. Aid agencies, including the UN, stress that a minimum of 600 to 800 aid trucks must enter Gaza daily to meet basic needs—an urgent target still far from being achieved as child malnutrition and civilian desperation intensify under the ongoing siege.
