National Security and Customs officers operating at Tanger Med Port successfully foiled an attempt on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, to traffic 350 kilograms of cannabis resin that had been carefully concealed inside the trailer load of an international transport truck bearing Moroccan license plates.
Border control and inspection operations led to the discovery and seizure of the drugs, while subsequent investigative procedures resulted in the arrest of the truck driver, a 42-year-old Moroccan national.
The suspect was placed under judicial investigation conducted by the Judicial Police Brigade at Tanger Med Port, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. The investigation seeks to identify all individuals potentially involved in the case and determine the suspected national and international extensions of the criminal activity.
The operation forms part of the intensive and ongoing security efforts carried out by the relevant authorities to combat international drug and psychotropic-substance trafficking and strengthen controls at border crossing points.
