Tangier Port recorded a significant increase in landings from coastal and artisanal fishing during the first half of 2026, reaching 4,594 tonnes by the end of June, an increase of 92% compared with the same period last year, according to the latest data from Morocco’s National Fisheries Office (ONP).
In its latest report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco, the ONP said the market value of these landings also increased by 13%, exceeding 128.49 million dirhams during the first six months of 2026, compared with more than 113.87 million dirhams during the same period in 2025.
By product category, landings of pelagic fish at Tangier Port rose by 109% during the first six months of the year, reaching 3,252 tonnes, with an estimated value of 68.72 million dirhams, up 19% from approximately 1,558 tonnes worth 57.87 million dirhams recorded by the end of June 2025.
White fish landings also recorded a sharp increase of 131%, reaching 923 tonnes, with a value exceeding 31.15 million dirhams, representing a 46% rise in value. During the same period in 2025, white fish landings stood at 400 tonnes, valued at nearly 21.33 million dirhams.
By contrast, mollusc landings declined by 8% to 276 tonnes, generating revenues of more than 21.68 million dirhams, down 18% in value.
Crustacean landings increased by 8% to 143 tonnes, generating revenues of more than 6.93 million dirhams, despite a 16% decline in their market value.
At the national level, marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products reached a value of nearly 5 billion dirhams by the end of June 2026, representing a 2% increase compared with the same period last year. The volume of landed and marketed products reached 367,184 tonnes, down 6% year on year.
