The local office of the Democratic Justice Union at the Court of First Instance in Tangier has announced a protest program over the continued malfunction of the air-conditioning system in several areas of the courthouse, amid a period of high temperatures across Morocco.
In a statement issued following a meeting held on Monday, August 3, 2026, the union said that several departments at the court are operating under difficult conditions due to the failure of cooling equipment across large sections of the building, arguing that the situation raises concerns about working conditions and the quality of services provided to court users.
The union said its local office had contacted the court’s administrative officials and the provincial directorate in an effort to find a rapid solution to the problem. It also acknowledged the efforts made by the provincial director and technical teams in monitoring the situation. However, according to the statement, the reported failures mainly affect the central cooling system, making temporary repairs insufficient to restore normal operation.
The Democratic Justice Union stressed that court employees continue to perform their duties despite the difficult weather conditions, at a time when the institution is experiencing an increase in the number of users during the summer period, including members of the Moroccan diaspora returning to the country to deal with judicial and administrative matters.
The union considers that the continued malfunction could affect working conditions and the reception of citizens, and therefore called on the provincial director to intervene urgently to find a permanent solution to the air-conditioning problem.
As part of its protest program, the local union office announced a one-hour work stoppage on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, while stressing that it would continue to monitor the issue until the malfunction is addressed permanently.
