Morocco’s Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation has ruled out repeating the entrance examination for the Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy for the 2026-2027 academic year, while confirming that judicial investigations are continuing into allegations of cheating following the circulation of a video on social media.
According to a senior ministry source, the competent public prosecutor has opened an investigation to examine the circulated footage, while examination supervisors identified several cases of cheating during the admission tests in accordance with the procedures established under Moroccan law.
The source added that the ministry conducted a comparative analysis between candidates’ baccalaureate grades and their entrance examination results across limited-admission institutions, including medical and pharmacy faculties. The preliminary findings indicate that most admitted candidates had already achieved high academic scores in the national baccalaureate examination. However, the ministry stressed that these figures neither prove widespread cheating nor justify questioning the overall examination results.
The official emphasized that any individual responsibility will be determined through the ongoing judicial investigation and that any confirmed violations will be dealt with in accordance with Moroccan law, while safeguarding the rights of all other candidates.
At the same time, the ministry is continuing discussions on possible reforms to the admission system for limited-enrollment institutions, seeking to strengthen transparency, preserve equal opportunities and merit-based selection, while maintaining the social dimension of access to higher education.
