Moroccan initiative continues delivering drinking water to Gaza amid worsening water crisis

    ayaJuly 28, 2026

The Moroccan Association for Supporting Reconstruction in Palestine continues its humanitarian efforts to ease the worsening water crisis in the Gaza Strip by distributing safe drinking water to families and displaced people while completing a new water well to provide a sustainable source of supply.

According to the association, the situation has deteriorated significantly after 725 water wells were put out of service and numerous water facilities were damaged, making access to clean water increasingly difficult for thousands of residents, particularly during the summer months.

The organization announced the completion of a new well funded by charitable donations. The project is expected to provide water to around 3,000 beneficiaries living in four displacement camps in Deir al-Balah, in addition to a prayer facility and educational centers.

Despite logistical and financial challenges, the association said water distribution operations remain ongoing, while emphasizing that humanitarian needs continue to exceed the resources currently available.

The association also appealed to donors and charitable organizations to continue supporting water well projects and drinking water initiatives, stressing the importance of expanding humanitarian assistance in response to the growing needs of Gaza’s population.
