Libya seeks to strengthen trade ties with Morocco through closer economic cooperation

    ayaJuly 23, 2026

Libya is stepping up efforts to expand its economic partnership with Morocco by enhancing cooperation in the field of non-oil exports and promoting stronger trade and investment relations between the two countries.

As part of these efforts, Mohammed Al-Hengari, Chairman of the Libyan Export Development Authority under the Government of National Unity, met with Hicham Errafki, Deputy Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in export development and economic relations.

The meeting focused on mechanisms to improve cooperation between public and private sector institutions, support trade flows, create new opportunities for Libyan products, and encourage greater commercial and investment exchanges between Libya and Morocco.

The two sides also reviewed the implementation of the memorandum of understanding recently signed between the Libyan Export Development Authority and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development, which aims to promote non-oil exports and increase the presence of Libyan products in regional and international markets.

At the conclusion of the talks, both parties stressed the importance of maintaining close coordination and expanding economic cooperation to serve the shared interests of Libya and Morocco while supporting sustainable economic development and a stronger bilateral partnership.
