Orange Maroc has officially entered Morocco’s digital television market after receiving authorization from the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) to launch and market Orange TV. The move strengthens the company’s presence in the digital services sector alongside its mobile and internet businesses. The authorization grants Orange the right to operate the service for an initial three-year period, renewable in accordance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework.
Orange TV is a subscription-based television platform that allows customers to access a wide range of television channels via the internet, including sports, entertainment, movies, documentaries, news, and children’s programming. The platform’s content offering may be expanded in the future, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.
The launch forms part of Orange’s strategy to provide integrated digital services combining fixed broadband, fiber-optic internet, and television, in response to the growing shift toward online content consumption and to offer subscribers a more flexible and high-quality viewing experience.
Orange TV’s entry into the market is also expected to strengthen competition in Morocco’s digital television sector by providing consumers with additional choices and leveraging advanced audiovisual broadcasting technologies, in line with the ongoing development of the country’s telecommunications and digital services industry.
Under HACA’s authorization, Orange is required to comply with the service specifications, including respect for Morocco’s constitutional values, the protection of minors, respect for human dignity, the prohibition of content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination, as well as compliance with advertising regulations and consumer protection rules.
The launch of Orange TV represents another milestone in the development of Morocco’s digital services ecosystem and reflects the growing trend among telecommunications operators to offer integrated connectivity and entertainment solutions as demand for internet-based television and streaming platforms continues to increase.
