More than 80 Moroccan freight trucks have been delayed at the Rosso border crossing between Mauritania and Senegal, creating disruptions for exports destined for several West African markets.
The crossing has become the main alternative route after security conditions affected the corridor leading to Mali. However, limited border processing capacity has resulted in long queues and extended waiting times for Moroccan transport operators.
Industry representatives warn that the delays pose a growing risk to perishable goods, including fresh produce and seafood, while increasing financial costs for exporters and logistics companies serving Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso and other regional markets.
Transport professionals have called for faster border procedures and closer coordination among the relevant authorities to ensure smoother trade flows and safeguard the continuity of Moroccan exports to West Africa.
