Tanger Med Port Authority has dismissed claims circulating on social media regarding delays affecting international freight trucks, stressing that port operations are running normally and that the reported situation is unrelated to the “Marhaba 2026” summer transit operation.
In an official response provided to Al Maghribi, Tanger Med stated that international road freight (TIR) traffic remains within normal operating levels. The port explained that export volumes typically increase toward the end of the agricultural season, resulting in temporary pressure during certain periods of the year.
The authority added that the SAS Export platform continues to operate at full capacity, processing export-bound TIR trucks and containers without interruption and ensuring the continuity of exports to international markets.
Tanger Med also emphasized that cargo inspection and customs control fall under the responsibility of the competent state authorities and are not managed by the port authority itself. It noted that all logistics services at the port continue to operate as usual.
The group firmly rejected any suggestion that the reported delays are connected to the “Marhaba 2026” operation, stating that the annual passenger transit campaign is progressing under very good conditions and has had no impact on export truck movements or overall port activities.
The authority further noted that transport operators have access to a digital tracking service through the Port Community System, enabling them to monitor the real-time location of their trucks, follow each stage of the transit process, and check processing times for both imports and exports.
The clarification comes after videos shared on social media sparked debate over traffic conditions affecting freight trucks near the port. According to Tanger Med, the temporary congestion is solely attributable to the seasonal increase in export activity at the end of the agricultural season.
The port also reaffirmed its commitment to transparent institutional communication by providing official information on issues of public and professional interest, helping prevent the spread of inaccurate reports.
