Morocco ranked as the largest importer of Tunisian dates during the first eight months of the 2025-2026 agricultural season, accounting for more than 14% of Tunisia’s total date exports, according to the latest figures released by Tunisia’s National Agricultural Observatory.
The report showed that Tunisia exported more than 121,000 tonnes of dates during the period, representing a 5.3% increase compared with the previous season. The “Deglet Nour” variety accounted for 83.3% of total export volumes.
The value of exports exceeded 770 million Tunisian dinars, up 4.8% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the average price reached 5.96 dinars per kilogram in May, down 7% from the same period last year. The average price of Deglet Nour also declined by 5.9% to 7.20 dinars per kilogram.
Organic date exports exceeded 7,000 tonnes with a value approaching 72 million dinars, posting growth of 13.3% in export volume and 28.4% in export value.
The European Union remained the largest destination for Tunisian dates with a 47.9% share, followed by Asia with 21% and Africa with 19.3%. Morocco ranked first among importing countries, ahead of Italy and Germany.
