The Moroccan Parliament took part in the 20th Conference of the Union of the Councils of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from June 21 to 26, 2026, where the Moroccan delegation highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to stronger cooperation, sustainable development and regional stability.
The delegation was led by Mohamed Ghiat, Vice-President of the House of Representatives, and included Khalid Satti, member of the House of Councillors, as well as Mohamed Chabbak and Khalid Channaq, members of the House of Representatives.
During the opening session, Mohamed Ghiat stressed that Islamic countries possess significant human, economic and cultural resources, calling for these assets to be transformed into concrete joint development projects based on innovation, technology and knowledge sharing.
He also presented Morocco’s development experience in infrastructure, industry and renewable energy, emphasizing the Kingdom’s role as an economic bridge between Africa, Europe and the Arab world.
Regarding Palestine, the Moroccan delegation reaffirmed the Kingdom’s longstanding support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent State with East Jerusalem as its capital, while highlighting Morocco’s humanitarian efforts through the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency.
The conference concluded with the inclusion of several Moroccan proposals in the final committee reports. The Moroccan Parliament was also elected to the Union’s Executive Committee and secured membership in several specialized committees.
