Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, announced that the ministry is continuing its institutional cooperation with the Competition Council and the General Directorate of Taxes by regularly providing data on the country’s fuel market, including strategic fuel stocks and storage capacity.
Speaking before the House of Representatives, Benali said Morocco’s fuel storage capacity increased by more than 30 percent between 2021 and 2025, providing reserves equivalent to more than 17 days of national demand.
She also unveiled a new investment plan worth six billion dirhams aimed at expanding fuel storage infrastructure, particularly at the regional level, as part of the country’s strategy to strengthen energy security.
The minister stressed that reforming the fuel sector requires continued institutional cooperation, legislative action, and the involvement of all stakeholders to modernize the sector and reinforce Morocco’s long-term energy resilience.
