Well-known Congolese supporter Michel Nkuka Mbuladinga, widely known as “Lumumba Via”, was unable to attend DR Congo’s World Cup group-stage match against Uzbekistan after failing to obtain a visa to enter the United States.
His absence came as DR Congo secured an impressive 3-1 victory, earning qualification for the Round of 32 without one of its most recognizable supporters in the stands.
“Lumumba Via” gained international recognition during the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he became known for silently honoring the memory of Patrice Lumumba, the country’s first Prime Minister following independence.
His absence generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Congolese fans expressing disappointment that one of the national team’s most iconic supporters could not witness the historic occasion in person.
