The city of Tangier continues to host the 2026 Optimist World Championship under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, bringing together young sailors from numerous countries in one of the most important youth sailing events worldwide.
The fifth day of competition was marked by changing weather conditions in Tangier Bay, with fluctuating wind speeds and directions creating new challenges for participants throughout the races.
These conditions added a significant tactical dimension to the event, requiring competitors to make quick decisions and adapt their racing strategies in order to maintain strong positions in the standings.
As the championship moves closer to its final stages, competition for the top places has intensified among sailors from several leading sailing nations, while participants from Asian countries have also delivered notable performances.
Moroccan and Arab competitors continued to display competitive performances, strengthening their presence in the international event and gaining valuable experience against some of the world’s best young sailors.
