Discussions surrounding Morocco’s draft law regulating the legal profession have continued following remarks by Justice Minister Abdellatif Wahbi during a session of the House of Councillors dedicated to the bill.
Wahbi stated that meetings held between the Head of Government and representatives of the legal profession were part of a consultation process aimed at gathering opinions and proposals regarding the draft legislation.
The minister emphasized that government action is guided by the government program and by the institutional and legal procedures governing the preparation of legislative texts.
He noted that proposals submitted during consultations are examined within the legislative process, but their consideration does not automatically imply their inclusion in the final version of the bill.
Wahbi also stressed that draft laws undergo several institutional stages, including review by the government and parliamentary debate, during which amendments may be introduced before final approval.
The statements come amid ongoing discussions surrounding the draft law on the legal profession and the differing views expressed by stakeholders involved in the sector.
