Moroccan Mandarins Capture More Than Half of the UK Market for the First Time

    ayaJune 24, 2026

Morocco’s mandarin exports achieved a historic milestone in the British market after surpassing 50 percent of market share for the first time during February and March 2026, according to data released by the agricultural analytics platform EastFruit.

The platform attributed this performance largely to the growing popularity of the Nadorcott variety, which has become a key driver of Morocco’s citrus export competitiveness.

According to the same source, the expansion of Nadorcott cultivation followed changes to the licensing system that previously regulated its production, allowing thousands of Moroccan farmers to grow the variety and increase export capacity.

EastFruit also noted that the harvest season for Nadorcott, which runs from January to April, coincides with a decline in exports from some competing suppliers in the UK market, creating favorable conditions for Moroccan exporters.

During February and March 2026, Moroccan mandarins accounted for more than half of the British market, marking a significant achievement for the country’s agricultural export sector and strengthening its position in international markets.
