National Security and Customs officers operating at Tangier Med Port thwarted an international drug trafficking attempt during the early hours of Friday, June 19, seizing 753 kilograms of hashish that were being transported aboard an international freight truck bearing Moroccan registration plates.
According to available information, border control and inspection procedures carried out by the competent services at the port led to the discovery of the narcotics shipment, which had been carefully concealed within the trailer’s cargo in an apparent effort to evade security and customs checks.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of the truck driver, a 45-year-old Moroccan national, on suspicion of a possible connection to the seized shipment.
The suspect has been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office in order to determine all circumstances surrounding the case, identify any other potential individuals involved, and establish any possible national or international links related to the investigation.
