Princess Lalla Meryem represented King Mohammed VI on Friday in Paris during the funeral ceremony of Bernadette Chirac, which was attended by several French political figures, officials and members of the Chirac family.
Upon her arrival at the Basilica of Sainte-Clotilde, Princess Lalla Meryem was welcomed by Claude Chirac, daughter of the late Bernadette Chirac, before joining Brigitte Macron and other distinguished guests attending the ceremony.
The funeral was also attended by Morocco’s ambassador to France, Samira Sitail, former French presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande, as well as relatives and close associates of the Chirac family.
Following the passing of Bernadette Chirac, King Mohammed VI had sent a message of condolences to Claude Chirac, expressing his sympathy and heartfelt condolences to her family and relatives.
In his message, the King stated that Morocco would preserve the memory of a distinguished personality associated with human, family and national values, while recalling the ties that connected Bernadette Chirac and former French President Jacques Chirac to the Kingdom of Morocco.
