Morocco and Brazil Strengthen Security Cooperation to Combat Cross-Border Crime

    ayaJune 11, 2026

Morocco’s Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, held talks on Thursday in Rabat with the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Morocco, Alexandre Guido Lopes Parola, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral security cooperation.

The meeting focused on existing cooperation between Morocco and Brazil in areas including border security, counterterrorism efforts and the fight against transnational crime, while also exploring new avenues for collaboration.

Both sides reviewed mechanisms aimed at enhancing police training, combating irregular migration networks and monitoring terrorist activities in the Sahel-Sahara region.

The discussions also took place within the framework of the 2024 memorandum of understanding signed between Moroccan security services and the Brazilian Federal Police, which seeks to strengthen cooperation in combating organized cross-border crime.

The agreement covers several areas of mutual interest, including the fight against drug trafficking, terrorism, human trafficking, migrant smuggling, illicit arms trade, money laundering, document forgery and cybercrime.

The meeting reflects the shared commitment of Morocco and Brazil to deepen security partnerships, expand information-sharing mechanisms and strengthen coordinated efforts to address emerging security challenges at both regional and international levels.
