Tangier hosted a communication meeting organized by the Moroccan National Union of Budo and Martial Arts, the official representative of the World Budo and Martial Arts Federation in Morocco and Africa, to highlight Morocco’s participation in the World Budo and Martial Arts Championship held in Azerbaijan in May 2026.
The event celebrated the achievements of Moroccan athletes during the international competition, particularly the performance of world champion Abdelhamid Aït Hamadi, who won the gold belt.
The meeting also featured the appointment of Professor Abderrahim El Bourimi as National Technical Director for Budo and Martial Arts. The decision was announced by the leadership of the Moroccan federation with the support of Ibrahim El Mrabti, the official representative of the World Federation in Morocco and Africa.
Representatives of sports associations from various Moroccan cities attended the event, alongside sports figures and interested stakeholders.
Participants discussed several upcoming initiatives, including the organization of an International Open Budo and Martial Arts Tournament in Morocco in July 2026, with the participation of delegations from Europe, Asia, and Africa.
The meeting also addressed plans for a national training camp aimed at selecting athletes for future international competitions under the supervision of National Technical Director Abderrahim El Bourimi and national referee Mbarek Bilali.
The event concluded with a tribute to world champion Abdelhamid Aït Hamadi in recognition of his achievement at the World Championship.
