32 Inmates Sit for Baccalaureate Exams at Oujda Local Prison

    ayaJune 6, 2026

Thirty-two inmates, including one female candidate, sat for the ordinary session of Morocco’s 2026 national baccalaureate examinations at the Oujda Local Prison as part of educational programs available to incarcerated individuals.

The examinations are scheduled to continue until Saturday, with educational, administrative, and logistical resources mobilized to ensure that the process takes place under appropriate conditions and in accordance with national regulations.

Speaking to the Moroccan News Agency, prison director Saad Abdelchafiq stated that the examinations began under normal conditions and that candidates are enrolled across several academic streams.

He added that the exams are being organized in coordination with the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education in Oujda-Angad, noting that inmates benefited throughout the school year from textbooks, academic support classes, and access to the prison library.

For his part, examination center president Aziz Lazaar highlighted the involvement of all stakeholders in ensuring the smooth running of the examinations, while implementing the measures adopted nationally to safeguard exam integrity.

According to figures released by the Regional Academy of Education and Training of the Oriental region, six examination centers have been established within correctional facilities across the region, enabling approximately 126 candidates to sit for the 2026 baccalaureate examinations.
