Morocco Reaches 57.1 Million Mobile Lines, Surpassing Its Population

    ayaJune 5, 2026

A recent report released by DataReportal in partnership with We Are Social and Meltwater shows that the number of active mobile phone lines in Morocco reached 57.1 million in 2026, exceeding the country’s estimated population of 38.5 million people.

According to the report, mobile penetration has reached 148 percent, indicating that many users own more than one mobile line for personal, professional, or commercial purposes, as well as to benefit from offers provided by different telecommunications operators.

The sector added approximately 887,000 new subscriptions over the past year, representing annual growth of 1.6 percent and confirming the continued expansion of Morocco’s telecommunications market.

The data also indicate that 87.7 percent of active connections operate on third-generation broadband networks or higher, including 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies, highlighting the increasing adoption of high-speed mobile internet services.

The report notes that Morocco’s mobile communications market experienced fluctuations between 2023 and 2025 before returning to a growth trajectory and reaching its highest level on record.

This development comes amid growing digital transformation, increased reliance on mobile internet services, and ongoing competition among the country’s major telecommunications operators.
