Moroccan athlete Soufiane El Bakkali won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 17th edition of the Mohammed VI International Athletics Meeting held on May 31, 2026, as part of the third stop of the Diamond League season.
El Bakkali crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 7 minutes, 57.25 seconds, setting a new meeting record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event.
German runner Frederik Ruppert finished second in 7 minutes, 57.80 seconds, while Kenyan athlete Isaiah Koech secured third place with a time of 7 minutes, 59.44 seconds.
The result further strengthens El Bakkali’s standing among the leading international steeplechase athletes and adds another achievement to his record in global athletics competitions.
