A European report focusing on shore power services for ships has highlighted the strategic position of Tangier Med Port as one of the leading competitive port hubs outside the European Union.
According to the CASP/FIER 2026 report, Tangier Med handled 11.44 million TEUs and 187 million tons of cargo during 2025, reinforcing its role as a major transshipment and logistics platform in the Strait of Gibraltar region.
The report also acknowledged the port’s environmental transition initiatives, including investments related to shore power infrastructure and the integration of renewable energy solutions aimed at supporting more sustainable maritime operations.
At the same time, the study noted that publicly available tariff data for shore power services were not sufficient to allow direct comparisons with several European ports covered by the report, limiting comparative pricing assessments in this area.
The findings come as international maritime regulations increasingly focus on reducing emissions and promoting cleaner technologies across global shipping and port operations.
