A fire broke out on Tuesday in agricultural fields located in an area belonging to the commune of Sidi Harazem near Fez, in an incident that preliminary information suggests may be linked to a lightning strike recorded in the region.
Following reports of the incident, members of the Royal Gendarmerie, local authorities and Civil Protection teams were deployed to the scene. Emergency crews worked to contain and extinguish the flames in order to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby agricultural land and to ensure the safety of surrounding residents.
According to available information, the Royal Gendarmerie launched a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the circumstances and exact causes of the incident, while initial indications suggest a possible connection between the fire and thunderstorm activity in the area.
