Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property reported the creation of 25,520 new businesses in Morocco during the first quarter of 2026, according to the latest business creation barometer covering the period from January to March.
Legal entities accounted for 76 percent of newly registered businesses, while sole proprietorships represented 24 percent. Single-member limited liability companies “SARL AU” remained the dominant legal structure among newly created firms.
Regionally, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima ranked first in the creation of sole proprietorships, while Casablanca-Settat led in the number of newly established companies.
The trade sector topped the list of newly created businesses, followed by construction, real estate, services, transport and industry.
The report also showed that men represented nearly 80 percent of entrepreneurs, compared to just over 20 percent for women.
In addition, more than 33,000 trade names were registered during the first three months of 2026, reflecting continued entrepreneurial activity across Morocco.
