US Ambassador to Morocco Duke Buchan said he held talks with the head of the MINURSO, Alexander Ivanko, regarding recent developments in the Sahara issue and the political process led by the United Nations.
According to the American diplomat, the discussions also addressed recent incidents attributed to the Polisario Front and concerns over their potential impact on efforts aimed at advancing the political process.
The US ambassador reaffirmed that Washington continues to view Morocco’s autonomy initiative as the most serious and realistic basis for achieving a lasting solution to the conflict.
He also stressed that meaningful progress depends on the willingness of all parties to engage in serious and responsible negotiations under United Nations auspices.
