King Mohammed VI Addresses Royal Armed Forces on Their 70th Anniversary

    ayaMay 14, 2026

King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, addressed the daily order to the Royal Armed Forces on Thursday on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of their establishment, highlighting the military institution’s role in protecting Morocco’s territorial integrity and contributing to humanitarian and rescue operations.

In his message, the King described the anniversary as a significant milestone in the country’s history, recalling the missions and sacrifices carried out by the Royal Armed Forces to ensure Morocco’s security and stability, while emphasizing the need to continue modernizing and strengthening military capabilities in response to global developments.

King Mohammed VI also praised the involvement of the Royal Armed Forces in rescue and relief operations in several regions affected by floods and severe weather conditions, particularly in Ksar El Kebir and parts of the Gharb region, in coordination with local authorities and public institutions.

The royal message further highlighted the role played by military medical and paramedical teams deployed in field hospitals, as well as military supply units sent to the provinces of Azilal, Al Haouz and Midelt following recent climate-related disruptions.

The King stressed the importance of military service as a means of promoting citizenship, discipline and professional training among Moroccan youth, while referring to efforts aimed at modernizing training programs and strengthening partnerships with public institutions to improve technical and professional skills.

On the social level, King Mohammed VI announced the construction and renovation of several military hospitals in Rabat, Meknes, Errachidia and Laayoune in order to improve healthcare and social services for military personnel, retirees and their families.

The royal message also focused on the modernization of Morocco’s defense capabilities, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, digitalization, scientific research and cybersecurity, alongside efforts to enhance training and operational readiness.

Finally, the King announced the launch of an additional housing program for military personnel, involving the construction of 60,000 housing units over five years.
