The city of Tangier hosted a regional forum focused on the 2022-2026 education reform roadmap, bringing together education stakeholders, institutional partners and civil society representatives from the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
Organized by the Regional Academy of Education and Training under the theme “Achievements That Inspire and Perspectives to Build”, the event forms part of ongoing efforts to evaluate the implementation of Morocco’s public education reform strategy.
Participants took part in thematic workshops addressing several priority issues, including classroom teaching approaches, educational governance, school dropout prevention, as well as sports and extracurricular activities.
Discussions also covered school autonomy, initial and continuous teacher training, strengthening the capacities of educational actors and improving the quality of education across the region.
In a speech delivered on his behalf, Moroccan Minister of National Education Mohamed Saad Berrada stated that the forum provides an opportunity to assess the achievements and challenges linked to the implementation of the education reform roadmap.
He emphasized that the success of the reform depends largely on the ability to translate strategies and policies into effective classroom practices, highlighting the central role of teachers in improving learning outcomes.
Regional Director of Education and Training Wafaa Chaker said the forum comes at a key stage in the implementation of the reform roadmap aimed at strengthening public education and promoting equal opportunities.
The event also featured presentations on regional achievements, discussions on combating school dropout rates and recognition ceremonies honoring schools and education professionals for their contributions to improving educational performance.
