Morocco and Norway signed a bilateral agreement on May 5, 2026, to implement Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement, aimed at strengthening climate cooperation and carbon market mechanisms.
The agreement was signed by Leila Benali and Andreas Bjelland Eriksen to develop joint emission reduction projects.
It includes a renewable energy program of around 2 gigawatts over ten years.
The initiative is expected to avoid up to 10 million tons of CO2 emissions by 2030.
