Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour stated that business creation in Morocco through electronic means is now possible in less than three days, noting that this development improves business climate indicators, during a parliamentary session addressing e-commerce and consumer protection.
The minister explained that a consumer protection network of 32 centers is in place, alongside a digital platform that processes complaints within one week, as part of efforts to enhance public services, while also highlighting the existence of a broad postal service network operating within a public service framework.
MP Salwa Demnati, however, questioned the announced timelines, indicating that certain administrative procedures, including obtaining a negative certificate, may take longer, relaying concerns raised by economic stakeholders.
Regarding street vendors, the minister reported support for more than 100 designated spaces and over 300 e-commerce platforms as alternatives, noting that success depends on the availability of proper conditions.
On e-commerce regulation, a new draft law is under review to regulate platforms, strengthen consumer protection, facilitate electronic payments, and regulate delivery services.
He also pointed to growing trust in e-commerce, reflected in the decline of cash-on-delivery transactions, while acknowledging ongoing concerns related to misleading advertising.
Finally, he stated that industrial land has reached 15,000 hectares, with additional projects planned.
