Tanger Med Port recorded on Monday evening the interception of an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of gold coming from France, following a control operation carried out by customs services as part of strengthened border surveillance measures.
According to available information, a thorough inspection of a utility vehicle arriving by sea led to the seizure of 6 kilograms and 950 grams of gold, carefully concealed without declaration to the competent authorities, in a context linked to gold trafficking attempts through border crossings.
The individual involved, a Moroccan national holding French citizenship, was subjected to the legal procedures in force under the supervision of the competent authorities, in order to determine the circumstances of the case and examine possible connections related to this operation.
