Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presided on Thursday at the OLM Souissi venue in Rabat over the official opening of the 31st edition of the International Publishing and Book Fair, held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, with the event scheduled to run from May 1 to May 10.
The inauguration of this major cultural event highlights the importance given to culture, reading, and knowledge production, reflecting ongoing efforts to promote intellectual engagement and support the development of a knowledge-based society.
On this occasion, the Crown Prince toured several pavilions, including that of France, the guest of honor for this edition, underscoring the historical and cultural ties between Morocco and France, as well as the continued development of bilateral cooperation.
The visit also included a range of institutional and thematic spaces, such as the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication stand, a dedicated pavilion on “Ibn Battuta and travel literature”, as well as various national institutions, publishing houses, and cultural organizations participating in the event.
This edition is organized in partnership with several public stakeholders and coincides with the designation of Rabat as UNESCO World Book Capital 2026 by UNESCO, reflecting international recognition of the city’s cultural heritage and its role as a hub for intellectual and cultural exchange.
