Major investments set to boost Tangier by 2026

    ayaApril 30, 2026

The Tangier Tetouan Al Hoceima region is set to benefit from significant public investments by 2026 as part of a national program with a budget of 380 billion dirhams, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and promoting balanced regional development.

In this context, the city of Tangier is among the key beneficiaries, with around 1.7 billion dirhams allocated to upgrading the road network, including expanding sections of National Road No. 2 and improving regional connectivity.

Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport is also undergoing an expansion program to increase its capacity from approximately 2 million to 7 million passengers annually, as part of a national strategy to develop airport infrastructure, particularly in light of upcoming international events such as the 2030 World Cup.

In the education sector, the region will benefit from the construction of 387 new classrooms, aimed at expanding educational capacity and improving infrastructure.

These projects are part of a broader vision to strengthen Tangier’s position as an economic and logistics hub, supported by the industrial and logistics activity linked to Tanger Med port and surrounding industrial zones.

The investments align with ongoing efforts to support regional development and improve infrastructure and service quality.
