Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique provided an update on the condition of Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi following the match against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening at the Parc des Princes, in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final, which ended in a 5-4 victory for the French side.
Speaking after the match, Luis Enrique said that Hakimi experienced muscle cramps in the back of his thigh during the final minutes of the game, attributing the issue to the high physical demands of the encounter.
He added that he hopes the cramps will not develop into a more serious muscle injury, pending medical examinations that will determine the player’s availability for upcoming matches.
Hakimi went down in the 89th minute showing visible discomfort, before receiving treatment and continuing to play until the final whistle.
From a technical standpoint, the Moroccan full-back delivered a strong performance, providing an assist to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the fourth goal in the 56th minute.
The situation has drawn attention given the player’s importance to the national team and upcoming competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
