The Municipality of Tangier has announced the launch of a project to maintain green spaces and public gardens across various neighborhoods, with a budget exceeding 72.4 million dirhams, as part of efforts to improve the urban environment and quality of life.
The project aims to preserve the city’s aesthetics and strengthen the presence of green areas, especially amid ongoing urban expansion, as these spaces are considered essential for residents’ well-being and environmental balance.
The estimated cost of the project has been set at 72,420,000 dirhams including taxes, with a provisional financial guarantee of 1,000,000 dirhams, in accordance with applicable procedures.
This initiative is part of a broader approach to promote sustainable development and enhance urban attractiveness, given the role of green spaces in reducing pollution and improving living conditions.
However, differing views have emerged regarding the tangible impact of these investments, with some observations pointing to disparities in maintenance quality between neighborhoods, raising questions about management efficiency and monitoring mechanisms.
