Morocco Driving License Points System 2026: 31 Violations and How to Recover Points

    ayaApril 28, 2026

Morocco’s driving license points system remains a key component of road safety regulations in 2026, aiming to improve driver behavior and reduce traffic risks through a structured points mechanism that penalizes violations and offenses, potentially leading to license suspension in serious cases.

The system is based on a list of 31 legally defined violations, with varying point deductions depending on the severity of the offense, including serious traffic incidents, driving under the influence, and breaches of road safety rules such as speeding, failure to respect traffic signals, and unsafe driving practices.

Authorities also identify technical violations related to vehicle compliance, including lack of inspection certificates or driving without proper lighting, alongside safety-related offenses such as not wearing a seatbelt or improper child transport.

Drivers can recover lost points through two main legal methods, including automatic recovery of four points after one year without violations, or full restoration of the 30-point balance after three consecutive years without any offense.

Additionally, drivers may recover four points by attending a road safety training course supervised by the National Road Safety Agency, with eligibility limited to once every two years.
