47 percent growth in legal cannabis production in Al Hoceima

    ayaApril 28, 2026

Al Hoceima province recorded a significant increase in legal cannabis production in 2025, exceeding 2,800 quintals, marking a growth of almost 47 percent compared to the previous year, within the framework of implementing Law 13.21 governing legal cannabis uses for medical and industrial purposes.

According to data from the provincial directorate of the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis Activities, total dried cannabis production reached 2,804 quintals in 2025, compared to 1,900 in 2024 and 60 in 2023, while harvested areas covered 844 hectares benefiting more than 1,300 farmers organized into cooperatives.

The agency supported over 1,400 farmers and issued more than 1,500 licenses, contributing to the expansion of cultivated areas and the development of the sector.

Sector stakeholders reported that these results reflect positive progress, with indicators pointing to potentially strong production in the current season, particularly due to demand for local varieties used in medical and cosmetic applications.

This development aligns with the implementation of the legal framework aimed at structuring the sector, encouraging investment and supporting local economic development.
