Abdelmalek Essaadi University awarded on Thursday in Tangier an honorary doctorate to Chilean politician Francisco Javier Chahuán Chahuán, in recognition of his career and contributions to knowledge, diplomacy and political work.
The event, held at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in coordination with relevant institutions, took place within the framework of strengthening South South cooperation and strategic partnerships between countries, aiming to support shared development.
In his speech, Chahuán expressed his gratitude for the distinction, stating that it reflects the strength of relations between Morocco and Chile, and reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation, while highlighting the role of parliamentary diplomacy.
Regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue, he reiterated his support for the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco, describing it as a serious and credible solution within the United Nations framework, and expressed his intention to continue supporting Morocco’s territorial integrity in international forums.
University officials indicated that this recognition reflects institutional openness, while the ceremony brought together several figures and provided an opportunity to recall initiatives related to parliamentary cooperation and external relations.
