Police officers at the regional commissariat of Jorf El Melha were compelled on Thursday, April 23, to use their service weapons in a warning capacity to neutralize a threat posed by an individual in an agitated state, suspected of endangering public safety and police officers with a bladed weapon.
According to available information, the suspect, who showed signs of mental disturbance and was living in a state of homelessness, allegedly attempted to physically assault a traffic officer using a knife, prompting the officer and a nearby colleague to fire two warning shots into the air as a precautionary measure.
