National security services at Tanger Med port foiled, on Tuesday April 21 around midday, an attempt to traffic a significant shipment of cocaine weighing a total of 33 kilograms and 400 grams, as part of ongoing security monitoring operations at the port.
According to preliminary data, the shipment was seized inside a metal container arriving from Ecuador and bound for an Italian port, where a detailed inspection led to the discovery of 30 slabs of cocaine carefully concealed within the container’s refrigeration system.
In this context, the regional judicial police in Tangier has opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, with the aim of determining the circumstances of the case and identifying any potential national or international links.
