The Bin El Ouidane Dam, located in Azilal Province, has recorded a significant increase in its filling rate, reaching about 94 percent, following recent rainfall and snowfall.
This level has not been recorded since April 2015, reflecting an improvement in water resources in the region.
The dam is built on the El Abid River, a tributary of Oum Er-Rbia River, with a storage capacity of over 1.27 billion cubic meters.
Water inflows exceeded 1.1 billion cubic meters by mid-April, compared to about 13 percent during the same period last year.
According to the Oum Er-Rbia Hydraulic Basin Agency, total basin inflows reached 2.9 billion cubic meters, marking a 47 percent increase.
The dam also plays a key role in supplying drinking water to several cities, including Beni Mellal and Afourer.
